Some time ago i wrote a piece on the rapid decline of the Minnetonka Trading Post on Route 66 in Arizona. It’s not often I get to add a positive update, but I have been delighted to see that, under new ownership, the Minnetonka is being beautifully regenerated. Only some of the petrified wood wall could be saved (too many people helping themselves to it) but it looks grand!
Wonderful news!

Great news! Glad to see more ghosts return to life. Travelers get bored living the past out of museums only!

I am trying to find info on a small reptile/snake trading post. They advertised it along the hwy as having a 30 foot python. It would have been around ‘53 or ‘54 when I went there with my parents. I think it was in NM but not sure. They had rattlesnake’s and at least two cobras and the giant python. Also an alligator in a pit said to be 400 years old. They had rickety cages with thin glass. The giant python was curled up the size of a large man. When it raised up its large head and looked at me my Dad pulled me away from cage and we left. It was the scariest thing I had ever seen. I can’t find any information on the place and I would love to see some pictures of it and hear its history. Surely there is someone left out there that remembers that place. Thank you. Ah, there were a number of trading posts that had reptiles. Could it have been one of these? https://neverquitelost.com/2015/12/04/the-trading-atkinsons-of-route-66/
